Michael Patin was voted second in Dentistry Chiswick’s Top 10. We find out what got him into dentistry in the first place.
1. What got you into dentistry?
An injury to my teeth whilst playing golf at the age of 15. Dr Amin (one of the best) showed me a profession that cares and he was technically brilliant. I just thought: ‘If I could copy him…’
2. What do you like most about it?
The people you meet especially nervous patients.
3. How do you see the future of dentistry in England evolving?
Such a difficult question.
This depends on the political will of the country and those chosen to administer dentistry. I hope they take counsel from everyone who cares – patients and dental care professionals alike.
4. Have you had any unusual experiences in dentistry?
Millions! A patient with haemophilia demanding implant surgery, whilst trying to hide her condition, takes the biscuit!
5. What dental treatments do you offer and where
We mostly work with patients with missing teeth, who are looking for either dental implants or dentures. We tend to attract patients who have been told that they have limited or no bone. This is because we are known for our advanced bone graft procedure. We work at practices in Central London. More.
6. Where’s your favourite holiday destination?
Antalya in Turkey.
7. What’s your favourite film and TV programme?
My favourite film is Heat and my favourite TV programme is Game of Thrones.
8. What’s your favourite meal?
My wife’s lasagne!
9. What’s your favourite book?
The Bible.
10. What’s your favourite sport?
Formula 1 and football!
11. What kind of music do you listen to?
I have three daughters, so I’m often bullied into listening to whatever Capital radio is playing.
